yesterday we went to ottumwa to do some more research on icf’s. we weren’t very impressed with what we found. actually really glad we have other options and don’t feel stuck with what this company offers. off to do more research. eric and i got to talking all that while we were in the car and realized we are potentially 8 weeks away from breaking ground. that makes my stomach go crazy. i feel like we have so much to do first… so many quotes and such we need for the bank. i am sure this is not the worst part, but it feels like a doozy at the moment.

while in ottumwa one of my missions was to find a pair of jeans for me that fit RIGHT. if you haven’t ever jean shopped with me, here’s what it looks like.

collect all jeans at current store.

try on ALL the jeans. some once. some twice.

take note once again that everyone on earth in my size is an 1in taller than i.

this all takes about an hour or two.

go to a different store.

repeat above.

3x’s at least.

it’s exhausting. for me and my shoppin pal.

yesterday was different. yep, believe it!

i went into target, tried on three, nothing. moved on.

looked and looked at 2 stores and nothing even worth trying on. i couldn’t believe this! and determined i wasn’t going to find jeans that fit right unless i spent $70 on silvers.

was headed out the mall in disappointed and glanced in vanity. i’ve never shopped in there before. their style from glancing in the window seemed, umm, too young for me. i tried anyway. the sales lady was awesome. she pulled three jeans for me and said these should be perfect. they were! ALL of them! they fit like a dream!!!! i only got one pair. but am thinking i’ll be back very soon to get at least one more pair. the styles she handed me were amazing. they are the most comfortable jean i’ve ever wore. not the rough jean fabric like all my other jeans, a softer jean fabric, like lucky and silver… but they were vanity’s. i’m very happy! 🙂

i’ve determined – let the sales lady select the jeans.

Ooh I’m going to have to check this place out! Thanks for the tip!

  2. Kelli Breuklander says:

Hi Breanna!!! just LOVE reading your blog!! I hear ya on jeans. I have all but given up, simply for the “itch” factor. I can’t take it on my sensitive skin,so I wear wide leg yoga style pants all the time. I may have to look into Vanity as well …….same as you, I would have thought too “young” for me. Afterall, we are “moms”!!!!!! ha. Nice to hear how life is for you. Sounds great, and I hear about Lizzie Faith all the time. What a doll

  3. Heather says:

hey…. did you guys check out the icf’s from the guy alex talked to?

  4. Heather says:

oh and i meant to say… CONGRATS! 😀

  5. tracimae says:

Wow! 8 weeks?! That would make anyone nervous, but it will all work out! As for the jeans. Umm yeah. I quit shopping for jeans unless I’m absolutely desperate. The Vanity is about the only place I’ll buy my jeans they usually fit just right and I’m a sucker for cheap clothes. I usually have more success with sales lady’s than on my own, I always get home and realize I did a horrible job.

  6. Chelsea says:

Thats where my sister likes to shop at.. most of her clothes are from there I believe. She is skinny and tall(long legs) so I think finding jeans is a struggle. I’d love to have a pair of Silvers again.. those were my favorite pants! When I get my own $$, i hope to get a pair.. I had good luck at American Eagles last time i went there, got 2 jeans on sale! Thats kinda like winning the lottery(for me!).. I struggle finding the right pants/fit for me.. big thighs for this waist is not a good combo.. 🙂
I have the local guys info if you want it.. I’d ask for a quote NOW, he said he is swamped so it may take some time for him to get a quote. We sent him our house plan and he printed it off and looked at it by that. He seems to be pretty detailed for his quotes. 8 weeks will be flying by! Nerve wrecking and exciting!

  7. breanna says:

chelsea, what company is it? i think we’ve checked on them but i want to make sure i’m not missing something!! thanks so much!

traci, having the sales lady help is a totally new concept to me! i don’t think i’ve let anyone help me since heather helped me when she worked at a cloths store. what other secrets are you withholding!? 🙂

kelli, oh i’m with you on the “itch” factor. although mine is above waist right now from carrying lizzie. mom has mentioned this struggle with dry skin too. it moves south with everything else when aging, huh!? ROFL man, this bites!

    jeni, welcome!! 🙂
