… stuck on flooring.

my sister told me last night, it’s the biggest decision! oh what a relief! i thought i was making a mountain out of a mole hill…. ok so maybe i’m still doing that! but it’s a bigger mole hill! shwoo what a relief!

yesterday i went to dm with mom to go to lumberliquidator’s showroom. i’m so glad we did. they are very knowledgeable and i needed someone to insistently tell me that ALL the flooring i had picked out WOULD yellow up extremely and there was no avoiding it. frustrated, i chucked all previous ideas of what i thought i wanted.

i picked out hardwoods that were $6.99 a sq ft. feeling like there was NOTHING in our price range or at least not much over. i settled on bringing home a rustic maple sample and a hickory sample.

then there it was. utility grade american cherry.

these photos are not utility grade. so add lots of dark knots and then you have utility grade. it’s still rustic. it’s still going to look great with my dark/er cabinets. i’m really starting to understand hardwood is a universal color and anything goes with any wood.

some of these pictures are a sample held up to cabinets. that’s the sample the store gave me which is the lightest piece of wood we would get and mom’s cupboards are the darkest… what do you think?? i’m really really liking it this morning! even after sleeping on it, i’m not hesitant! that’s a miracle! LOL
