{icf’s} they came!!!!! **update

Posted: 04/11/2009 in icf (insulated concrete forms)

it started out with my mother-in-law and brother in-law and we thought we were doing ok… he he he

eric had called our pal russ (the guy we bought our land from and fellow lcc member (church)) and he and the men’s group in our church were working on re-graveling the church’s alleyway. russ said he would swing by and help, just to call him when the semi got here.

no problem. we weren’t sure we would need more than 3 guys so we didn’t really know how much help to ask for…

10 min later a whole slew of guys show up! (the guys that were re-graveling the alley). what a blessing!

we had one hour to unload the semi and we got it done in 45 min. shwoo! that’s close! those guys really saved the day! (definitely going to bake some cookies for each of them! LOL)

we also thought maaaaaybe they would fit in our garage – well some of them did. most did not. (another save the day, one of the guys is loaning us 2 of their 100 ft tarps. what a blessing!)

so 3-4 hours later and lots more pulled muscles and achey bodies, eric and i (and of course lizzie faith) managed to get everything in doors with 45 min of daylight to spare. shwoo!

here’s the progression.

back garage almost filled...

back garage almost filled...

eric and is muscles! (no he's not single!!) these are HEAVY! (three guys sometimes four carried these from the semi to the garage)

the driveway pile is getting smaller and smaller (we started with 19 pallets in the drive)

i mean, 19 pallets left over in the drive after both garages were "full"

we're getting there!

we're getting there!

so tired!! (look room to spare!!!) *gasp* i can't believe it!

proof that it's all inside!

(just for my own memory. when i feel overwhelmed – wondering if i can do it all in a day! here is what i did today: made roast, potatoes, carrots, went to glenwood twice, the bank, made juicy burgers for lunch, ran dishwasher, unloaded dishwasher, loaded dishwasher, moved toy room to multiple rooms, filled toy room with storage from back garage, sorted toys, helped unload semi, put baby down to nap, moved forms all around! ate supper, continued to move storage to old toy room, oh did a load of laundry and showered… then pooped out!)

The neighbors are probably thinking you are going to insulate your house. (expecting a hot summer) That is if they don’t know what they are.I’m sure my neighbors would ask me…

oh my gosh there’s so much! what is this used for? i’m not up to par with what icf’s are used for. 🙂

  7. breanna says:

jenifriend, this is the entire exterior of our house, from basement to the trusses. they dig the basement hole, then stack these inside that hole, brace them, lay rebar in them, pour concrete in them, put the floor ontop of the forms, and then start stacking the perimeter again for the above grace exterior walls…
