today we’ve been out putting forms together for the main floor walls.

there’s a plank that runs from the ground to the decking/floor of the house. we haven’t had time to back fill yet so there’s quite a drop. i wasn’t sure how i was going to get anything done. lizzie will obey and stay where i put her but she needs visual boundaries to help her! so we made a lil icf “play pin”.

she did attempt to escape twice. she was “reminded” NOT to go outside this area even if there was a “walkway”. lil escapee. she just wanted to see what her daddy, papa denny, and uncle anthony were doing (can’t you see those pouty brown eyes beggin’) –ย ย i. don’t. think. so. i’m so glad i was keeping such a close eye! she’s never been put in a situation like this where it’s a REALLY big deal that she obeys and that she doesn’t have her cousins right there to follow suit. nor have we worked on obeying in new situations. we haven’t been in any for months – so this was a good challenge for us! ๐Ÿ™‚

i totally wish we were moving today!!!

but today we are moving the icf’s out of the back garage and the attached garage to the new house to assemble there tomorrow while they are being assembled into walls. last time i assembled them all then we moved them, but this time we thought we’d see if it’s faster to move them all broke down and assemble there. hoping lizzie helps me or plays really well tomorrow. this cool weather will really help both of our stamina. lizzie gets so red and flushed and i get so “fainty” in the hot sun. not good! but this early fall weather is SUPER! no complaints here!

eric has decided to take at least a few full days this week to work on our house. i’m really excited about that. we’ll be pouring the upstairs walls in just a few days then! EEK!

yesterday the dad’s and eric got the decking down and painted. now that there is a “roof” on the basement we’ll be installing the toilet and sink (if i have my way, much soonerย than later!) and of course the electrical panel, ground rods and all that jazz.

dad brought me a sample gallon of a paint color i’m considering for the exterior. it’s dark, but remember i will have wide white trim and white garage doors and a gorgeous blue door. it’s fox black by sherwin williams. i looked at their swatch online and it is not at all what it looks like in person so i don’t want to even show you. but i’m trying to match the picture in my old post that is linked above… i hope it turns out right! i’m so nervous about it!!!

alrighty, chicken is up from her nap and laying on the floor saying “poop” waiting her diaper to be changed!

super duper liz

i’d like to say for the record. this was all liz.

she has been wearing the cape for a couple days now… just walks around and plays while wearing it.

then today i put it on her and eric said “super duper liz” and that’s it.

she added the arms and jibber-jabber.

oh it’s hilarious!

eric was in tears.

i was holding my breath so my historical laughter wouldn’t shake the camera and drown out her sweet voice.

my favorite part is the belly button! ๐Ÿ˜€ that’s a 3t shirt… there is no hope for her tummy not showing!

good grief she is funny! i’m still in shock that she performed for the camera!

100_2989 holding cousin baby corrin for the first time. she had her arm under him at first and i went to get the camera and she got nervous and wanted down so this is what i got. bummer!!!

this was when the doak’s came to see us this week and yesterday we went to see them and every chance she gets she’s chattin and playing with corrin. she talks about him all the time. ๐Ÿ™‚ it’s so sweet! then we ask her if she’s ready to be a big sister and she says “NOPE!” and shakes her head. LOL so cute! (neither are mommy and daddy) ๐Ÿ˜€

floor joists and such

Posted: 08/24/2009 in basement, house

we’ve had some glorious days. that have enabled us the guys to get some much done! ๐Ÿ™‚ yippee!

i keep myself busy keeping lizzie out of the nails and screws that the guys drop along with the jigsaw blades and saws… oh the joys! ๐Ÿ™‚ she loves it down there… she has a bday present that she is going to LOVE to use down in the basement! i’m doing my ย best to keep it picked up and clean so the guys don’t have to step around everything. constructions sites are not fun! ๐Ÿ˜›

sounds like tonight they are doing some finishing touches on the basement and then moving upstairs for a bit. tonight they will be working on staking out the garage floor footings to be dug out tomorrow afternoon by our handy dandy trusty steve the digger! no more shovels!!!! then we’ll start assembling the main level forms and pour those. then i believe we’ll start stick building the other two sides of the garage – then comes the trusses!

i got this in a forward today from an old friend…

i can’t get over it.

Dear President Obama,

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don’t understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and ‘class’, always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the ‘blame America’ crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer ‘wind mills’ to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use ‘extortion’ tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O’Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.
