final kitchen decisions

Posted: 12/31/2009 in house

i’m so thrilled to announce… 🙂

i’ve ordered kitchen stuff.

so glad it’s done!

so excited to see my kitchen and work in it.

here’s what i decided on.

the faucet i found on CLEARANCE half price! (except i just opened up the box and it’s satin nickel instead of shiny chrome like this picture. sigh.)

my light over my island (that my sink is in)

my apron sink is this style below, but here is what it looks like installed.

my kitchen cupboards are white mission. similar to these. the drawer will have the same design as the cabinets. my range hood is very similar to this one in the picture.

here’s my cupboard latches

my countertop is solid maple wood in a clean (no knots or color variation) pale maple.

now i’m off to ottumwa to find a faucet, i hope. otherwise, i’ll be ordering one more thing online. 🙂

am i the only one?

Posted: 12/28/2009 in baby bean #2, lizzie faith

i wasn’t going to blog about this.

but after a few days.

i just don’t want to forget this!

and i forget everything…

christmas eve we were driving home from osky.

lizzie was sleeping.

eric and i are just chit chatting about the baby.

the baby doesn’t move very often.

he/she FREAKS out when i’m holding corrin close to me (like if he sleeps on me…)

he doesn’t like to be squished.

she thinks it’s all about her.

so move over organs!

it’s really fun to see personality already!

so we are chatting…

i’m saying something like i think it’s a boy!

reminding eric how i asked lizzie when i was 6 months along or so if she was a boy to kick me.

she didn’t kick.

was perfectly still.

i asked her if she was a girl to kick me.

and she kicked like crazy.

i did this often in the next few months.

i say, i’m just not sure with this lil bean yet.

with lizzie, i knew from day one, she was a girl!

i dunno.

there was no doubt in me at all.

this time, i feel a strong tugging towards a boy but not without doubt…

so then the conversation moves to names…

we are still in limbo on the combo of boy names…

we like several.

we just keep putting the puzzle together and taking it apart and rearranging it.

i say the name i like and the baby goes CRAZY!!!!!

did my baby just name himself? seriously.

i dunno.

i guess we’ll know this summer. 🙂

just in case “he” did… i wanted proof of this conversation.

happy monday!

signing time

Posted: 12/28/2009 in lizzie faith, sign language, videos

when my sister told me about signing time.

i didn’t really think it could possibly be as great as she was claiming.

well it is.

seriously awesome.

there’s a few signs that are different than how i learned.

but that can be regional, cultural, or simply era.

so i’m learning new signs too!!!

neither are right or wrong…

it’s just i say “tomato” you say “tomato”. 😉

we still understand each other…

another thing you. just. can’t. beat.

it’s conceptually accurate signed english and asl.

she isn’t signing… “car” and “pet” for the word/concept “carpet”.

lizzie absolutely loves baby signing time (which is what she calls ALL of the signing time videos).

her signing vocabulary has expanded surprisingly.

i was working with her.

but the signs i introduce to her don’t stick nearly as quickly or permanently than the signs she learns from signing time.

it’s been so fun having eric around for a couple days this week.

it seemed like he was constantly asking me what she was signing/saying. 🙂

so fun to “interpret” for them.

can’t wait for him to be around more and him know all the signs she knows.

lizzie’s favorite signs this week.

“tree” and “snow”.

hmmm wonder why.

i think the signing time classroom edition sounds totally awesome!!!

the list of benefits of teaching sign language to children are HUGE.

harass your librarian to get a few if they don’t have any!

it’s worth it. 😀

the bestest…

christmas day

Posted: 12/26/2009 in family, lizzie faith, pictures, videos

christmas day we spent with eric’s family.

christmas morning here with just us three really wasn’t what i expected.

we hoped for a nice quiet, cuddly morning.

and got a tired grouchy sickly morning.

eric got only a couple hours sleep through out the night.

i got maybe 4.

thankfully! lizzie slept all night.

eric was dealing with lots of water pouring into the basement.

he’s definitely motivated to fix that now.

this was the first time it happened during the night and he had to deal with it.

what a mess.

thankful he was here to help me.

since i was in the bathroom sick for several hours.

so christmas morning was prepping for lunch and after at denny and penny’s and attempting to recover from the night before – impossible to do, really.

christmas at d & p’s was super fun and we are so blessed and spoiled.

i think the pictures and video tell all.

don’t you. 😀

merry christmas to you and yours!

i pray you and yours aren’t all caught up in the hype and do remember why we are doing what we are doing.

stop. refocus.

i’ll post pictures from christmas eve with my family when i get the pictures. i know the photographers are all tired and recovering from christmases too – so we’ll just have to be patient. but the cousins had a BLAST! and we had fun giving!
