i think it’s time i stop avoiding this post….

jace turned one 2 weeks ago and we had a wonderful party! (one party down and one to go)

i had a wonderful time making the invitations and cupcake toppers with the cricut expression.

i wanted to make a banner to hang across our picture window – that turned into this cityscape πŸ˜€ jace LOVES it!

the capes turned out wonderfully well! i’m thrilled with them!

i had such a blast! it’s so much work but i love every minute of it! lizzie is VERY excited for her princess birthday party! πŸ™‚

reality is…

… that under all the fun and hype – there is stress and exhaustion.

i’m claiming two days off!
doing nothing but the bare minimum up keep and care (cuddles included).
see you in 2 days!

{memories} memorial week 2011

Posted: 05/31/2011 in family

wow, what a weekend!!!

before i tidy the house. clean the kitchen. wash all the laundry.

i must write this post.

eric went and helped the city of joplin after last week’s horrible tornado ripped through. 6 miles long and 1 mile wide of the heart of the city.

while he was gone for the weekend, i did not want to stay home worrying about him running a chainsaw (they scare the tar out of me, one slip and his leg is gone….) so i packed up and went to my mom’s to spend a weekend with my mom, sisters and their families.

we went fabric shopping, played outside with aunt colors, crashed at aunt amanda’s one morning, ran to ottumwa’s menards and stamp store, bought flowers (which i planted yesterday! WHAT fun is flower planting!!!! new addiction!), ate frosty udder’s ice cream (black raspberry is the BEST!), played outside and swam at aunt amanda’s. shwoo! all while jace popped in 2 more teeth (making 6 total), decided to stand up by himself frequently, get down off of chairs, beds, and steps correctly, walk with a push toyΒ and was even caught crawling up grandma’s back stairway (he made it half way up before i stopped him… he was fast too!). what a big boy complex he has now and loved showing off to daddy when we all got home. lizzie has a blast with her cousins!! i usually don’t see her much. LOL but she got a new dress from aunt colors!! πŸ˜€

eric, didn’t have quite so much ‘fun’…. here’s some more pictures of his trip. joplin, mo tornado 2011

hearing him tell the stories… just mind blowing… horrible. absolutely horrible. we will continually be praying for these people as they attempt to rebuild their lives without dear loved ones, homes and possessions that remind them of those loved ones. in the mean time, we are cherishing everything we are blessed with in new ways, including each other.

God is good.

this is what my mom and i have been up to….

can i just say how much i love! this create a critter cricut cartridge and how thrilled i am my mom has a cricut machine! πŸ™‚ ohohoh! and she glued all these mini orange parts on!!!! i know, i’m spoiled well loved! i can’t wait for the lady in honor to see em!!!

it’s high time i blog

we are overwhelmed by how people have blessed us this christmas!

i did not realize that our toys for lizzie were too young!

she is having a blast cutting veggies up while i make supper,

playing with her doll house,

watching beauty and the beast while beauty and beast dolls dance in our living room. πŸ™‚

can a 3 year old talk about her wedding day more?!?!! goodness!

there is just too much to list – she is just so much happier now with more age appropriate toys!

jace is loving stealing lizzie’s princess dolls – could care less about beast.

he likes the pretty ladies. LOL oh dear.

he scored some pretty sweet rough ‘n tough boy stuff that we were in need of to try and ween this boy off his sister’s toys.

(i’m wondering if he likes to hear her squeal and come running to save her dolls from jace-slobber! that’s one way to get her to sit and play next to him)

we had a wonderful time fellow-shipping with friends and family too!

with that in mind, i am sad for the holidays to be over….

yet i’m thrilled to have that huge tree out of here (and be able to see out my front window again!!)

and the living room furniture rearranged! (this is my favorite arrangement yet, it might stay this way for a few months!)

i’ve still got quite the task ahead of me this week, toy sorting.

i’m brainstorming creative ways to pass along some great toys in good shape….

what do you do?

oh back to that huge christmas tree,

eric and his brother had a wonderful time disposing of it

the joys of living in the country

it’s absolutely amazing to me – this is a 9 foot tree.

you can see the top and how far the flames are above it.

i did not watch.

this girl can’t handle fire.

i’m thinking fake next year.

when i see these top flames, i picture my lovely kitchen.

that flame would chase right along my ceiling and this main part of my house would be gone in seconds.

anyway, moving right along.

i may disappear for a few days again while i seek creative storage methods and struggle with this house shrinking right before my eyes πŸ™‚

or scream

we had brummer-beeler family pictures a couple weeks ago.

my children were a dream nightmare.

nice, right.

exactly what you hope for.

it was a gorgeous windy day.

yes, windy!

my children HATE the wind.

jace gasps and gasps for air and just can’t get a decent breath.

so he’s SCREAMING! terrified in the majority of the pictures.

real nice.

this equals a very stressed mommy and daddy.

and now looking back at the pictures my heart just breaks.

i can’t handle my babes crying when i can fix it.

i will not be able to hang the pictures on the wall where jace is crying.

now lizzie being ornery – those i can hang on the wall.

man, she was being a stinker!

jace crying stresses her out and she just shuts down! 😦

poor thing.

part of this problem i have with time is jace not sleeping!

he was a dream sleeper for 9 1/2 weeks.

it hit me like a bomb.

i have no idea what happened.

right now he is sleeping.

on the couch.

this is the first time he has slept outside of my arms in over a week.

(except at night. he is a dream sleeper during the night still! shwoo!)

this was what lizzie was like as a baby.

“as a baby”, meaning the first year of her life.

she did not sleep outside of my arms.

she did not play outside of my arms.

she did not like daddy or anyone else.

she wanted to nurse CONSTANTLY.

i will not let myself panic about jace becoming as high needs as lizzie…

thankfully, i never have to go through being a first-time-mom ever again. πŸ™‚

regardless what happens with jace…

if he continues to nap on his own or if i rock him for an hour and a half everyday while he gets his BIG nap…

i will not become high strung like i was with lizzie.

i will not put a clean house or a ‘fancy’ supper ahead of him sleeping.

most importantly, i will not lose sight of how precious he is and how quickly it is all over.

thus, i will continue to sacrifice and meet his needs in whatever way.

Lord, give me strength.

isaiah 41:10

so do not fear for i am with you; do not be dismayed, for i am your GOD. i will strengthen you and help you; i will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

i suppose i should blog…

…about something.

weird how you go through seasons where you desire to blog about everything you are passionate about.

then there are seasons like this one.

i have no desire to blog to … who?

i speak to everyone i desire to.

these people are in our lives.

they know everything new jace is doing…

they’ve seen lizzie twirl and dance.

they know that lizzie doesn’t call him “jace”

she calls him “babydace” and slurs it together cuz she has to top how fast she said it last time.

so why blog?

i say it’s for me.

so later i can go through jace’s category and fill in a baby book.

(i sure hope this happens some day!)

i’m feeling the strong desire to weigh everything i spend my time on against eternal purpose.

well, as of yet, this isn’t cutting it.

nothing wrong with a happy-go-lucky blog about my peanuts…

my time is just needing prioritized.

frankly, if it’s blogging or teaching lizzie psalm 100…

psalm 100 wins.

blogging will happen…

i miss it.

just not as fun to type one handed…

when i have two hands, i’m folding laundry, vacuuming, steam mopping, cooking… not blogging.

if i don’t do the above, i won’t have a happy family to blog about.

so today, i will not blog my deepest thoughts…

…how i would love to pour my heart out onto this screen.

just something about it really is therapeutic.

instead, i will stay on top of things today to visit grandparents,

for guests for supper and Bible study tonight.

happy labor day ya’ll.

no laboring in vain.
