a pet peeve of mine; when others speak of Christ as a wishy-washy God, all loving and not recognizing a huge part of God…

when i read this section from the book, it really stuck with me and i’m convicted that i am guilty of this!!

Peruse the Christian marketplace, and you will find a plethora of books, songs, and paintings that depict God as a loving Father. And he is that. But he is not justย a loving Father, and limiting our understanding of God to this picture ultimately distorts the image of God we have in our culture.

Yes, God is a loving Father, but he is also a wrathful Judge. In his wrath he hates sin. Habakkuk prayed to God, “Your eyes are too pure to love on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong.” And in some sense, God also hates sinners. You might ask, “What happened to ‘God hates the sin and loves the sinner’?” Well the Bible happened to it. One psalmist said to God, “The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.” Fourteen times in the first fifty psalms we see similar descriptions of God’s hatred toward sinners, his wrath towards liars, and so on. In the chapter in the gospel of John where we find one of the most famous verse concerning God’s love, we also find one of the most neglected verses concerning God’s wrath. (psalm 5:5 and john 3:16, 36)

i don’t know about you but i needed this reminder!! wow, how destructive it is to not study the Bible on my own… IF i would have been on a daily basis prior to this week (biblein90days) as a lifestyle, i would have seen on my own how this is true and not allowed these thoughts to live in me and dominate my decision making!

after reading just the first two chapters of this book i’m feeling very convicted. recognizing truth straight from scripture – how do you even argue with that?

i’ve paused again in reading to make myself chew over a new battle with my self…

We prefer to sit back, enjoy our cliches, and picture God as a Father who might help us, all the while ignoring God as a Judge who might damn us.

Maybe this is why we fill our lives with constant drivel of entertainment in our culture – and in the church. We are afraid that if we stop and really look at God in his Word, we might discover that he evokes greater awe and demands deeper worship than we are ready to give him.ย

i will admit right here, i am afraid to stop and really look. up until now, i have allowed it to cripple and hinder my time with Him and my entire life. not anymore.

i can usually find the words to say the right things and do the ‘right things’ to imply and get other’s to believe, i’m in a different place spiritually than where i really am. this facade is going down! i’m tired of the guilt that comes along with it. it’s time to really allow God to be Lord of my life.ย i’m really understanding what that means. scary. but how i’ve been living on my own is waaaaaay scarier!

besides, you all know the truth anyway! you can’t tell me i’m the only one who can tell when someone is lying… this lie specifically has destroyed relationships and burnt bridges – it’s way past time to stop.

it’s time.

what a fun weekend/week!

i feel like i’ve spent all my energy loving on friends!

what an awesome experience!

first we had GREAT friends over – and our first overnight guests!

what a joy it is to be serving!

we’ve spent a couple days recovering from late nights and fun times

(i came down with mastitis even – no fun!)

kristi blogged a bit more about their visit here ๐Ÿ™‚

and now we’ve spent the last couple days prepping for a baby shower for another dear friend!

the invitations i posted here

this morning i finished the guest book and gift book.

gift book and box envelope that holds the gift book and guest book

verses on child-rearing and parenthood mixed in with guests signatures and notes

finished front of the guest book

guest book

the booties might just be my favorite ๐Ÿ™‚

perspective! they are huge and awesome! wish i had time to chalk em up!

i'm in love with the large owls! (5 1/2 inches) this owls home for the shower will be a clothesline! ๐Ÿ™‚

the presents are wrapped

finishing two last minute projects and we’ll be ready for saturday.

now to attempt to keep this cold at bay so we can actually GO to the shower!

for the last few weeks i’ve had each week designated to serving someone in someway… (and it honestly has taken up the entire week! LOL)

next week i only have ONE thing lined up – soup to a family going through some trying health issues right now… (this is NOT going to take the whole week)

i’m very anxious to see what else is in store for me this coming week. i know it includes a trip home to see my family! YAY!

how are you serving outside of your 4 walls?

what needs have been met by other’s service or what needs do you have that still need met?

my skin is itching.
it’s time.
i can’t take it anymore….
i’ve reached a breaking point.
either explode or retract.
i want to run to what i know,
what feels most comfortable.
where i am wanted by ALL.
respected by all.
seen as a human,
with feelings.
and desires.
and not a young bimbo.
Donโ€™t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.ย 1 timothy 4:12

tough stuff.
i’m reminded today…
it’s NOT about me,
it’s about HIM.
about bringing Him glory,
honor,
and praise.

andย i am committed to
doing just that…
in all that i do.

am i the one that when the going gets tough,
i dart?
i don’t want to be that person.
but it seems hopeless.
pointless.
stupid.
what do you think of the man who stands there and takes a beating?
do you think,
defend yourself
or
stand firm
or
turn and run?

i’m not a turn and run kinda gal.
i’m a stick-it-out-to-the-death,
will sacrifice relationships,
kinda gal.
i think that’s wrong.
i ruin relationships and in turn cause others to stumble.
WRONG!
do i skip to turn and run then?
or maintain at the stand firm stage?
if it were up to me, i’d play dead (wait til they aren’t looking) and RUN!!!!!!

today i am letting the simplicity of psalm 55:22 to settle in my soul and bask in it’s security and hope.

Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.

girl time!
